About Hoo-Hoo International

The world's oldest fraternal organization dedicated to the forest products industry.

Who We Are

Hoo-Hoo International is the world's oldest fraternal organization for the forest products industry. Founded on September 5, 1892, in Gurdon, Arkansas, by nine men connected to the lumber trade, Hoo-Hoo has grown into a global network of professionals united by their love of the forest industry and the bonds of fellowship.

The organization takes its name from the Hoo-Hoo cat — a mythical black cat with a curled tail — and the number nine holds special significance throughout our traditions, rituals, and structure.

Today, Hoo-Hoo International serves members across North America, Australia, and beyond, providing networking opportunities, educational resources, and community service initiatives that strengthen the forest products industry.
